Development laptop
The current Debian-based live and installable image targets a Lenovo Legion 5 15ITH6H. The base installer has completed an offline installation and disk boot in a virtual machine; physical laptop validation is ongoing.
PERSONAL INDUSTRIAL COMPUTING PROJECT
manOS MED brings a Debian Linux environment and a custom monitoring dashboard together—with a vision for locally collected industrial data and remote visibility.

01 / THE IDEA
An industrial computer should bring the operating system, monitoring software and data into one understandable environment.
manOS—Mintos Anastasios Operating System—is a personal Debian-based project for custom industrial computers. MED stands for Metering Energy Data: the monitoring layer that gives the project its focus.
The direction is practical: run customised Python software, connect to field equipment through an RS485 gateway, keep measurements locally, and make selected information available remotely.
02 / THE MONITORING EXPERIENCE
The current dashboard prototype brings monitoring screens into a single browser interface. Its values are simulated while the real acquisition layer is developed.
PROTOTYPE · DEMO DATA
Runs on the computer’s own local web service. The desktop remains a complete Debian Linux environment.
A Python application and containerised services form the current development environment, with an adapted monitoring interface.
Measurement collection, real historical storage and remote backup are planned integrations, not active capabilities.
03 / THE INTENDED DATA JOURNEY
This is the target architecture. The end-to-end path has not yet been implemented or validated with live instruments.
Meters and industrial devices.
The planned bridge to physical measurements.
Custom software to collect and process data.
Persistent measurement history on the computer.
Online viewing and a remote backup destination.
Current SQLite use records application starts only. It does not yet store meter measurements. Remote control is part of the longer-term plan.
04 / HARDWARE DIRECTION
The current Debian-based live and installable image targets a Lenovo Legion 5 15ITH6H. The base installer has completed an offline installation and disk boot in a virtual machine; physical laptop validation is ongoing.
The first planned embedded platform. Its ARM image, hardware connections and acquisition services need their own build and validation.
Additional boards and custom industrial enclosures can follow once the software and data path are proven. The proposed Arduino platform remains subject to confirming the exact board and its operating-system support.

A FAMILIAR PLACE TO WORK
The manOS desktop includes three approved futuristic wallpapers, with one randomly chosen at login. The blue and green identity carries from desktop to dashboard.
05 / THE ROAD AHEAD
Debian desktop branding, offline dashboard containers, a demo interface and an installable laptop image. Continue testing the actual hardware and installation experience.
Bring up Raspberry Pi 5, confirm the RS485 gateway and device maps, collect real measurements and build the local measurement database.
Add authenticated remote viewing, tested backup and recovery, then carefully scoped remote control. Validate reliability before wider everyday use.
PROJECT STATUS / OCTOBER 2026
manOS MED is an independent project by Anastasios Mintos for personal use. It is under active development, with no commercial release or sale planned.
A Debian-based branded desktop image, a containerised demo dashboard and approved desktop wallpapers. The base laptop image passed a full offline installation and subsequent installed-disk boot in a two-drive virtual machine. The serial-check correction passed targeted checks; it has not repeated the full installation test.
Live RS485 acquisition, a local measurement database, remote viewing, remote backup and remote control. The Raspberry Pi build and physical hardware validation are also pending.
The operating environment is based on Debian Linux. The monitoring dashboard is a web application running within that environment. This page introduces the project; it does not provide access to a live installation.
This is a project presentation, not a shop or a public software distribution. No sales, public image downloads or remote-control endpoints are provided on this page.
